True to Geisenheim’s motto as a “globally-minded university against xenophobia”, several students from the International Wine Business course have joined forces to support the “Wine against Racism” initiative as part of their media internship. (www.weingegenrassismus.de)
This open platform is the brainchild of young winemaker Lukas Krauss from the Pfalz region. Here the wine sector can demonstratea united front against xenophobia and right-wing rhetoric. Winemakers, wine merchants and other wine lovers canuse the site to pledge their support for social harmony, announce and advertise their own campaigns and collect donations for various causes related to the common purpose.
As ofthis week, thanks to the committed efforts of the Geisenheim students, it has now become even easier for industry professionalsto get involved: they canspread the message using a specially designed self-adhesive Wine-against-Racism seal that can be attached to any bottle. The stickers are available for a minimum donation of € 0.30 per unit.
But it’s not onlythe professionals who can take a stand: from now on anyone can enjoy “Wine against Racism” in the form of a dry organic Riesling. Under the motto “drink, show your colours and do good”, €2.00 from the sale of each bottle will go to the charity for child refugees “Kinder auf der Flucht” (“Children on the Run”). Like the stickers, the students’ limited edition wine with its distinctive label is available via the ‘Wine against Racism’ website. (http://weingegenrassismus.de/projekt.html#jetzt-bestellen)
Thanks to the generous support of the companies Medienagenten and GEWA Etiketten, the aforementioned funds raised will go one hundred per cent towards the good cause.
